| A flaw was found in p11-kit. The RPC message attribute parsing functions p11_rpc_message_get_attribute() and p11_rpc_message_get_attribute_array_value() form a mutually-recursive call chain with no recursion depth limit when processing nested CKA_WRAP_TEMPLATE, CKA_UNWRAP_TEMPLATE, and CKA_DERIVE_TEMPLATE attributes. An unauthenticated attacker with local access to the p11-kit RPC Unix domain socket can send a specially crafted request with deeply nested template attributes, causing stack exhaustion and crashing the p11-kit server process and its dependent services. |
| Mistune is a Python Markdown parser with renderers and plugins. Versions 3.3.0 through 3.3.2 are vulnerable to DoS through deeply nested tokens. HTML rendering creates deeply nested emphasis tokens from consecutive asterisk characters, and recursive rendering in HTMLRenderer.render_token() can exceed Python's recursion limit and raise RecursionError, allowing crafted Markdown to crash a parsing process. This issue is fixed in version 3.3.3 |
| The guard checker in Rocq Prover does not follow recursive calls made through a fixpoint's own arguments. A fixpoint may pass itself as a higher-order argument to a second fixpoint, which then applies it to a value that is not a subterm of the structural argument. Passing the recursive function to a plain definition is rejected because the checker unfolds the definition and observes the call, but passing it to a fixpoint is accepted because higher-order recursive calls through fixpoint arguments are not tracked. This admits a type that is definitionally equal to its own negation, so self-application produces False in purely definitional code, without tactics, axioms, plugins or unsafe flags, and Print Assumptions reports the result as closed under the global context. Fixed in Rocq 9.2.0. |
| The guard checker in Rocq Prover does not recheck the recursive tree representation of an inductive type parameter after that parameter has been changed by transport. A fixpoint may apply a rewrite along an equality between types to its recursive argument, which the guard checker accepts because the inductive type is preserved, while the recursive tree recorded for the parameter is altered. A second fixpoint that calls the first inherits the altered recursive tree without verification, so a call that is not structurally decreasing is accepted as terminating. The resulting non-terminating definition proves that a natural number equals its own successor and therefore False, from which any proposition follows. The demonstration uses two axioms that follow from univalence and are consistent with the calculus of inductive constructions, so the contradiction comes from the guard check rather than from the assumptions. A fix is proposed but not merged. |
| The guard checker in Rocq Prover treats a parameter of a nested mutual fixpoint as uniform without examining calls between the different bodies of that fixpoint. find_uniform_parameters in kernel/inductive.ml inspects only self-recursive calls, so when no body calls itself the function concludes that every parameter is uniform. A parameter that grows through a cross-call from one body to another therefore keeps the subterm specification it inherited from the enclosing fixpoint, and a recursive call guarded by that specification is accepted although the argument is not structurally smaller. A non-terminating definition is admitted as structurally decreasing, which yields a term whose value equals its own successor and so a proof of False, from which any proposition follows. The proof requires no axioms, plugins or unsafe flags and Print Assumptions reports it as closed under the global context. Introduced in Coq 8.20 and fixed in Rocq 9.2.0. |
| justhtml through 1.9.1 (fixed in 1.10.0) is vulnerable to uncontrolled recursion leading to denial of service. During JustHTML() construction, TreeBuilder.finish() unconditionally calls _populate_selectedcontent(), which recursively traverses the DOM tree via _find_elements()/_find_element() without a depth bound. An attacker who can supply HTML for parsing can provide deeply nested elements (e.g., ~1000 nested <div> tags, roughly 11 KB) to exceed CPython's default recursion limit and trigger an unhandled RecursionError, which may abort parsing, fail requests, or terminate a worker/process depending on the host application's exception handling. |

| RaTeX is a KaTeX-compatible math rendering engine written in Rust. Prior to version 0.1.11, RaTeX’s recursive-descent parser recurses one (or more) native stack frame per nesting level at `{`, `\left`, `\sqrt{`, `^{`, etc, with no maximum depth limit. A short, ~10 KB input of nested groups overflows the 8 MB main-thread stack and aborts the process. With `panic = "abort"` (`Cargo.toml:48`), and because a Rust stack overflow is always a fatal `SIGABRT` regardless of panic strategy this is an unrecoverable, whole-process denial of service reachable from a single untrusted LaTeX string. Version 0.1.11 fixes the issue. |
| NLTK versions before 3.9.4 contain an unbounded recursion vulnerability in JSONTaggedDecoder.decode_obj() that allows attackers to cause denial of service by supplying deeply nested JSON structures. Attackers can craft JSON payloads exceeding the recursion limit to trigger an unhandled RecursionError that crashes the Python process. |
| EMQX is a scalable and reliable MQTT broker for AI, IoT, IIoT, and connected vehicles. Prior to versions 5.8.11, 5.9.3, 5.10.4, 6.0.3, 6.1.2, and 6.2.1, the plugin-install REST API and dashboard upload accepted stale grants created with emqx ctl plugins allow because there was no five-minute grant lifetime or SHA-256 package binding. An attacker with a compromised dashboard administrator credential or API key with plugin-install permission who finds a stale allowed name and version can upload attacker-controlled bytes under the allowed .tar.gz filename through POST /api/v5/plugins/install or the dashboard plugin upload. The broker then installs and runs attacker-controlled Erlang code with the privileges of the EMQX process. This issue is fixed in versions 5.8.11, 5.9.3, 5.10.4, 6.0.3, 6.1.2, and 6.2.1. |
| The RabbitMQ Java client library allows Java and JVM-based applications to connect to and interact with RabbitMQ nodes. Prior to 5.33.1, src/main/java/com/rabbitmq/client/impl/ValueReader.java permits ValueReader.readTable and ValueReader.readArray to call ValueReader.readFieldValue recursively for AMQP table type F and AMQP array type A values without a nesting-depth limit. A malicious AMQP server or network intermediary can send approximately 580 nested table levels in the pre-authentication connection.start frame, fitting within the default 131072-byte frame maximum, to trigger StackOverflowError. The error terminates the client input processing thread and causes denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 5.33.1. |
| ZEBRA is a Zcash node written entirely in Rust. Prior to 4.5.0, a natural or attacker-influenced chain fork can leave stale Sapling and Orchard note-commitment subtree roots in Zebra state. In zebra-state/src/service/non_finalized_state/chain.rs, Chain::pop_tip removed a reverted tip block but did not remove subtree entries whose end_height belonged to that block, unlike the cleanup performed by pop_root. When the winning fork later finalized, the abandoned branch's stale subtree data could be written to RocksDB and survive node restarts. The corrupted history can cause z_getsubtreesbyindex consumers such as lightwalletd and light wallets to receive incorrect subtree roots, producing wallet synchronization failures or incorrect wallet state and requiring a full state rebuild for recovery. This issue is fixed in version 4.5.0. |
| Unleash is an open-source feature management platform. Prior to 7.5.2, 7.6.5, and 8.0.2, the shared OpenAPI validation error path in src/lib/error/bad-data-error.ts passes a raw request value from lodash.get to JSON.stringify in genericErrorMessage and fromOpenApiValidationErrors without guarding stack exhaustion. An unauthenticated attacker can send a roughly 10 KB JSON value nested thousands of levels deep to POST /edge/validate, POST /edge/issue-token, or another OpenAPI-validated endpoint, causing RangeError: Maximum call stack size exceeded in openAPIValidationMiddleware and terminating the Node process because no uncaughtException handler recovers it. Replaying the request can sustain a complete service outage. This issue is fixed in versions 7.5.2, 7.6.5, and 8.0.2. |
| deepmerge-ts is a typescript library providing functionality to deep merging of javascript objects. Prior to 8.0.0, the deepmerge, deepmergeCustom, deepmergeInto, and deepmergeIntoCustom APIs do not track visited objects or object pairs when recursively merging records. When two input values contain self-references at the same property path, the merge logic repeatedly revisits the same pair until Node.js raises RangeError: Maximum call stack size exceeded. Applications that merge attacker-controlled recursive object graphs can synchronously crash the affected process or cause repeated worker restarts. Plain JSON input alone cannot create the recursive graph required to trigger the issue. This issue is fixed in version 8.0.0. |

BetterDesk versions through 2.3.0 improperly invalidate deleted device identities, allowing an unauthenticated client to replay or spoof a device ID and bypass registration controls. Version 3.0.0-alpha contains a patch. No known workarounds are available. |
